1990 and 1988   Devised and produced two Movie Masterclass series for Channel 4 television, an innovative way of looking, in detail, at films by great masters of cinema.
The presenter discusses with a group of students at the NFTS every aspect of a film: mise-en-scéne, editing, narrative, performance etc.
The original sessions lasted 4 hours, the edited version one hour.

(Later the format was expanded to discussing films with audiences of up to 500.)

Presented two of the programmes. The first was Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai. Kurosawa Productions championed the programme, which was successfully aired in Japan on NHK
